Oshkosh S-series Steering Gear: Steering recall

NHTSA campaign 22E073000 · 143 units potentially affected · filed Aug 30, 2022

What's wrong

Oshkosh Corporation (Oshkosh) is recalling certain Shepphard Gears, with part number 3875726, sold as replacement parts for certain S-Series 2.0 vehicles. The steering gears may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the gear to fracture.

Why it matters

A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace the steering gear, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Oshkosh's customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
