2022 Freightliner Cascadia: Electronic Stability Control (esc) recall
NHTSA campaign 22V339000 · 17 units potentially affected · filed May 16, 2022
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The antilock brakes (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) may be manually disabled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 121, "Air Brake Systems," and 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
Why it matters
Disabled ABS and ESC may lead to loss of braking or stability control, which can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
DTNA will repurchase the vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL932.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
