Meritor Tie Rod Assembly: Steering recall
NHTSA campaign 24E064000 · 23 units potentially affected · filed Aug 5, 2024
What's wrong
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain replacement tie rods equipped with USK ball studs, part numbers A-13102E4737 and A-13102E4738. The tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.
Why it matters
Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.
