NHTSA campaign 24E072000 · 21K units potentially affected · filed Aug 26, 2024
What's wrong
USK Internacional (USK) is recalling certain Tie Rod and Drag Link assemblies. The tie rod or drag link assembly may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud, causing the ball stud to break.
Why it matters
A broken ball stud can cause tie rod failure and a complete loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Affected vehicle manufacturers will determine their own remedies. Vehicle manufacturers were notified May 25, 2024. Owners should contact their respective vehicle manufacturer for more details.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
